NASA has announced plans to broadcast the upcoming “ring of fire” solar eclipse on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

This annular solar eclipse will be visible from the Oregon coast to the Gulf of Mexico in Texas, with a 125-mile-wide path where observers will see the “ring” around the New Moon.

NASA will provide live coverage of the event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. EDT on NASA TV, NASA.gov, the NASA app, and YouTube.

The “ring of fire” occurs when the moon appears smaller in the sky than the sun, allowing a ring of sunlight to surround the moon’s edges during the eclipse.
